Laura Willers de Souza

Executive and Commercial Director

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Biomedicine (2020) and a master’s degree in Biochemistry (2022) from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), as well a latu sensu specialization in Diagnostic Imaging from Feevale (2022). She is currently a PhD student in Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the neuroscience laboratory Zimmer NeuroLab (UFRGS). Laura has experience in imaging with an emphasis on brain magnetic resonance processing.

Marco Antônio De Bastiani

Operations and Finance Director

Researcher with experience in data science, bioinformatics, systems biology and biostatistics. His academic journey began with a bachelor’s degree in Biomedicine (2013), followed by a master’s degree (2015) and a PhD (2019), all from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). He is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the neuroscience laboratory Zimmer NeuroLab. Marco also has experience in business, being the co-founder of Healthtech Ostera, a biotechnology startup in the field of assisted human reproduction.

Mateus Rozalem Aranha

Production Director

Neuroradiologist specializing in structural and molecular neuroimaging in neurodegenerative diseases. He graduated in Medicine from the University of São Paulo (2012), with a medical residency in Radiology and specialization in Neuroimaging at the same institution (2016). He is currently a fellow of the Alzheimer’s Association and a PhD candidate in Radiology at the University of São Paulo and in Neurology/Medicine at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He works as a researcher in the cognitive neurology group at the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau in Barcelona, Spain, focusing on neuroimaging biomarkers in Alzheimer’s disease. Clinically, he works as a neuroradiologist at Multimodal – Consultoria Diagnóstica.

Andrei Bieger

Coordinator masima-RM 

He has a degree in Production Engineering (2011) and Medicine (2022) from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), as well as an MBA in Project Management (2014) from the Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV). He is currently a PhD student in Biochemistry at the neuroscience laboratory Zimmer NeuroLab (UFRGS) and a resident physician in Neurology at Hospital São Lucas Hospital at PUCRS. He has experience in biomarkers and diagnostic criteria for Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease, with an emphasis on structural imaging.

Guilherme Povala

Coordinator masima-PET 

He has a PhD in Biochemistry, along with a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Computer Science. Guilherme has experience in neuroimaging (PET and MRI analysis and processing) and in the application of artificial intelligence techniques for diagnosing and predicting events related to neurodegenerative diseases. He is currently a researcher at the University of Pittsburgh, USA, working on PET image harmonization using deep learning techniques.

Wyllians Vendramini Borelli

Innovation, Research & Development Director

Neurologist and neuroscientist, graduated from the MD-PhD program at PUCRS (2010-2016), completed a Master 1 in Public Health at Université Paris-Sud (2012-2013), a sandwich doctorate at New York University (2018-2019), and a post-doctorate in Gerontology at PUCRS (2019) and in Pharmacology and Therapeutics at UFRGS (2021-2023). He is currently a grantee of the Alzheimer’s Association, a physician-researcher at Hospital Moinhos de Vento, and coordinates clinical projects on Alzheimer’s disease at UFRGS. He has expertise in the processing and analysis of structural, functional, and molecular neuroimaging.

Eduardo Zimmer

Scientific Advisor

As a Pharmacologist, Professor Eduardo holds positions as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, an Adjunct Professor at McGill University (Canada), and an associate researcher at the Brain Institute of Rio Grande do Sul. He is also an Affiliated Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, a Grantee of the Institute Serrapilheira, and a CNPq Level 2 Productivity Fellow. In 2021, he was honored as the most promising researcher worldwide on Alzheimer’s Disease by the Alzheimer’s Association, receiving the One to Watch Award. With over 100 articles published in international journals, his contributions have garnered more than 3,800 citations and an H-index of 33 according to Google Scholar. Professor Eduardo serves as the coordinator of numerous experimental and clinical studies supported by national and international funding. His expertise lies in studies involving imaging biomarkers in neurodegenerative diseases.

Artur Coutinho

Commercial and Medical Scientific Advisor

A Doctor from the State University of Pará (2006), he specialized in Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, completing his Residency (2011) and PhD (Radiology Program, 2015) at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (FMUSP). He furthered his expertise with a post-doctorate at Massachusetts General/Harvard University, USA (2015-2016). He gained extensive clinical and teaching experience as a medical imaging specialist working in the Medical Residency programs at FMUSP and Hospital Sírio Libanês, in São Paulo. He has been working since 2022 as an Assistant Researcher at FMUSP with a research line in molecular neuroimaging and multimodalities, with a focus on degenerative diseases and aging. In the private sector, he co-founded the company Multimodal Consultoria Diagnóstica, providing molecular neuroimaging consultancy to various private centers. His work aims to promote the use of PET imaging across Brazil, contributing to its dissemination and democratization.

Fernando Rigon

Marketing and Communications Director

As a journalist, he specializes in scientific communication, with a keen interest in topics related to universities, laboratories, and research sectors that yield products and discoveries. He delves into public policies concerning these areas, societal challenges, controversies surrounding scientific and technological advancements, as well as daily life within the sector and society at large. Currently, within Zimmer Lab, he spearheads a project called Idea-Sci and leads a scientific dissemination initiative via digital media platforms.
